Vintage Hollis Williford Bronze Bolo Tie
Vintage Hollis Williford Bronze Bolo Tie
Western artist Hollis Williford (1940-2007) was commissioned to make this bronze bolo tie for the 1993 Prix De West Art Exhibition. The bronze is titled “Sundowner” and is on a handmade black and white horse hair tassel bolo. The Prix de West is “the nation’s premier western art exhibition and sale showcasing original works ranging from historical depictions of the American West to more contemporary and impressionistic pieces” hosted by the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in OKC. You can see current Prix de West commissioned bolo ties in the Persimmon Hill store. We were unable to find how many “Sundowner” bronze bolo ties were made. Nonetheless this is a collector’s piece!
Approximate size of the bolo slide is about 3.25 tall and 2.5" at it's widest point. The horse hair tie is roughly 40" long end to end and does have light fraying from age, but is still in wearable condition.
